How smbnest collects, uses, and protects your information.
Information we collect
Account information you provide: your name, email address, phone number, password (stored only in hashed form), the journey stage and business details you choose to share, and your communication preferences.
Payment information: subscription payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We receive billing status and the last four digits and brand of your card, but we never receive or store your full card number.
Usage information: pages viewed, actions taken, the approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and similar technical data, collected to operate and improve the service.
Content you upload: files and documents you submit to our tools, such as the financial statements, spreadsheets, and profit-and-loss documents you upload to the benchmarking tool. We use this content only to generate the analysis and provide the features you use it with, and we retain it in line with the data-retention practices described below.
How we use your information
To provide and operate the service, create and manage your account, and process your subscription and billing.
To send you transactional and lifecycle emails (such as verification, receipts, and account notices), and - where you have not opted out - occasional product updates.
To respond to support requests, improve our content and features, and detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
How we share information
Service providers who help us run smbnest, under contract and only as needed - for example our payment processor (Stripe), email provider (Resend), and hosting and infrastructure providers.
AI processing providers: to power certain analysis and content features, some information you provide - including content you upload - may be processed by third-party artificial-intelligence providers, such as Anthropic and OpenAI, acting as our service providers under contract and solely to generate the output you request. Under these providers' applicable business terms, this content is not used to train their models.
Partners you choose to engage: when you click a tracked link to a marketplace partner, that partner receives standard referral information indicating the visit came from smbnest. These relationships are disclosed where they appear.
Legal and safety: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of smbnest, our users, or others.
Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice as required by law.
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and tracking
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect against fraud and cross-site request forgery. We may use limited analytics to understand how the service is used. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can access, correct, or update your account information in your settings, and you can request a copy or deletion of your data by contacting us. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time.

Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, described further on our Security page. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
smbnest is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date below and, for material changes, provide additional notice.
