If you think small business, think smbnest.
The home base for the 33 million small and medium businesses in the United States - and everyone thinking about joining them.
Why we exist
Every year millions of people leave a job, or are shown the door, and decide to own something instead. Most of them want the same thing a franchise offers: an established model, a plan to follow, real numbers, suppliers, and numbers a lender will take seriously. Until now the only way to get that system was to buy it as a bundle with a brand, for an initial fee and a share of revenue for a decade or two. For some businesses that bundle is worth it. For most, people need the system more than the sign.
smbnest exists so the other doors are as walkable as that one: sourced economics for every kind of Main Street business, a launch plan for each, a marketplace of vendors you can leave, tools that do the math, and a live board of businesses for sale. It is where you test an idea, benchmark the numbers and run your own diligence before you own anything. The decisions stay yours, and so does the business.
What we believe
Trust is the product. The business models and the marketplace are written to be useful to you, not flattering to a vendor. A listing is a starting point for your own research, not a recommendation, and when a partner pays us a referral fee, we say so where you see it.
We make money two honest ways: membership, and disclosed referral fees from some of the partners in our marketplace. We never take a cut of your deal, a fee from a franchisor, or payment to change what we publish.
smbnest is a self-assessment tool. We do not give individualized financial, investment, legal or tax advice, and we are not anyone's broker, adviser or fiduciary. Before you start, buy, finance or sign anything, speak with a qualified financial adviser and a licensed attorney.
Who is behind it
smbnest was founded by an operator with a background in mergers and acquisitions, and built for the millions of people - laid-off professionals, new graduates, would-be franchise owners, and lifelong operators - who deserve a straight answer about small business ownership.
